American Idol

Every year on American Idol I fall in LOVE with at least one person, not generally the winner. If I'm lucky I find a new heartthrob to droll over. Over time they are forgotten, but it is fun to remember.
Season 1: Didn't watch it and had never heard of it.

Season 2: Clay Aiken. The close contest ended going to Ruben Studdard, but my heart belonged to Clay. My sister and I went to the American Idol tour concert that year. My brother actually got married the day before and I remember writing Clay and asking him if he would come sing at their reception, because he was going to be in town anyway.

Season 3: Was definitely a let down. The only person I remember really liking was La Toya London and she got voted out way before her time. The only contestant I remember disliking intensely was the winner, Fantasia Barino.

Season 4: Constatine Maroulis. Oh my goodness can I say smoldering! I really loved him; I screamed when he got voted out. But the winner, Carrie Underwood, was totally amazing too!

Season 5: What an interesting year. The hotties were Ace Young and Chris Daughtry. Ace was voted out probably when he should have been, but Daughtry should have stayed much longer/won. There was actually a lot of talented people that year who went on to record and become famous. As mentioned before, Daughtry is a great and very popular band today, Kellie Pickler has had 2 CDs recorded and done very well in the country world, Katherine McPhee had a CD and at least one good hit on the radio, Elliot Yamin has a CD and a hit on the radio, even Bucky Covington has some songs on the country stations. Yes, lots of talent, except for the winner, Taylor Hicks.

Season 6: Blake Lewis. WOW! I was really really in love with Blake. His looks, his clothes, his voice, his beat boxing, and his originality. He rocked my world when he sang his rendition of "You Give Love A Bad Name." He has a CD out and I have heard one of the songs on the radio. However, the winner that year was Jordin Sparks who I also like and has done very well.

Season 7: Ok, who can forget the two Davids of last season? David Cook and David Archuleta. Both cute and talented. I really couldn't decide who I wanted to win. When Cook won I was a little disappointed, but Archuleta already has a really great single and CD. Another contestant I loved that year was Carly Smithson.

Season 8: This year I love Danny, Allison, Kris, and Adam. Right now Adam is at the top of my list with his rendition of "Mad World" still playing in my head, but the week before it was Kris with "Ain't No Sunshine" that had my head spinning. And next week it could be Danny or Allison. Who knows?
