Proof of Accomplishment

Usually when people ask, "what are you doing now?" my answer seems pretty boring and unimportant. One part of my answer is, "I am finishing up my associates degree this semester in history/political science."

When people hear this they usually say, "cool," "oh," "good for you," or other things that say "An associates degree is nothing. Talk to me when you at least have a bachelors."

On Sunday, I was visiting with some other young adults I grew up with and they were all talking about the exciting and non-school things they are up to and then the conversation turned to me. I repeated for the millionth time, "I am finishing up my associates degree this semester in history/political science." And immediately I heard, "ooh!" "wow!" "Holly, that's so good!" I was pretty shocked.

For the first time in a long time I remembered that this degree signifies something good and important. I have been to college for two years! I have over 70 credits. All of that means something. That's why the school is willing to give me a degree.

So, I am proud of my accomplishment. I will definitely continue my education and my accomplishments and be proud of all of them.

Good for you!!! I was just asking Reid to help me think of some of my accomplishments last night, and he said my degree. Yes, it does mean something, even though it doesn't directly translate to a career. It is valuable.

And I love you.
